Digimon Time Stranger (just beat it)

So this is my first ever Digimon game so I don't really have context about the lore and stuff, I heard great reviews and then I got it on sale during the summer steam sale. I remember watching the anime as a kid but that's about it.

Anyway, I just beat the game and it was a little underwhelming tbh. Like sure, great animations for what it was, Digimon designs are well done. The mechanics were more or less straightforward, load enhancement wasn't very clear in the beginning but once I got it, it all made sense.

That said, what is up with the freaking flash bangs. Every location switch triggers a white screen, like what shitty design is that? I like to play well into the night so that gave me quite a headache! Accessibility was practically not existent in this game, are we not in 2026?

Also, maybe I've been spoiled by other JRPGs like Trails, Persona etc. but my god the side quests were mind numbingly boring. I hate skipping cutscenes, but this game almost made me feel like wanting to just skip through all of it. The main story was somewhat interesting.

I was just wondering if when people were raving about it, did you guys just mean that this was the best Digimon game ever cause then I suppose I can understand that a community would love their favourite series finally getting a AAA like game. Cause honestly it was a reasonably decent game if they could fix the accessibility issues.

(I lost track of my thoughts half way through the post, so apologies if I sound rude, I was just irritated by the headache that this game's white screen gave me.)
