Mixpacking protections should just be baked into the base game, an idea

Discussion 🗣️

I feel like all they would need to do is give people a "stress" debuff if spent in close proximity to a carnivore not of your species. Make it so stamina/health regen, bleed resist, or whatever stat you want, is reduced if you're near another predator for more than 5 to 10 minutes at a time without damaging each other. Like diet buffs but inverted. Herbivores could still mixpack, but these massive groups of rexes and raptors and whatever would be less common. No more getting rolled up on by a kentro and rex inexplicably working together, griefing the general area. It would massively improve player immersion and encourage more natural player behaviors. They could make it so that social species like ptera and beipi would not contribute to this effect

You could still do it if you really wanted, but it would be a more emergent style change without the need for admins or moderators. They really should do *something* to discourage it. Outside of bugs and performance issues, this seems to be the single most frustrating aspect of the game for most people. Just look at all of the unofficial servers, anti mixpacking rules are the most common rule you see among them.

Obviously you'd need to be very careful with the implementation of something like this, and the logic diagrams behind what counts or doesn't would be tricky to create. But I think it's totally doable and would help players feel like they're actually playing a survival game
