Just sharing something that’s been on my mind

Rant/Vent only (No comments)

I just want to share something here, hehe.

I work in accounting for a company that has several retail stores, and we have one particular store that sells high-value products.

Recently, there was a theft incident inside the store. Upon investigation, it was found that there was some negligence on the part of the store personnel. One item was lost, and the cost is around 45k.

The store personnel are working under an agency, and the agency decided that the two employees involved should be charged for the full amount.

I understand that there has to be accountability, especially when negligence is involved. But honestly, I couldn't help but feel a little sad for them.

For all we know, they probably did their best, and sometimes these things can happen despite precautions. I also can't stop thinking about how huge that amount is for someone earning minimum wage. That's a lot of money, and I honestly wonder how they're going to recover from that and move forward with their lives.

As someone working in accounting, I understand the business side and the need to protect company assets. But seeing the human side of it is different.

I'm not really trying to argue who's right or wrong. I just wanted to share because the situation has been on my mind. Sometimes, behind every shortage, loss, or amount that needs to be charged, there are actual people who will have to carry the consequences.
