Raising a fire bender must be terrifying

Discussion

Interested to hear other people's thoughts. I'm just thinking about the logistics and speculating on the ramifications.

If you're a fire nation couple, even if you're not a bender, you could have a fire bending child. You don't know when or how or even *if* the power will manifest, and babies and toddlers very likely will not be able to control their power. This would be physically, mentally and psychologically exhausting for a new parent, constantly waiting for a sign either way, cautious of being burned at any minute.

The nursery furniture must be made entirely and exclusively of stone. If you're not a bender yourself, then you won't be as fire resistant as the baby, so breast feeding would be a nerve-racking experience every time, and I can imagine caregivers become extremely attentive to a baby's emotional state; you need to wear fire retardant clothing; you have to be careful of siblings playing together...

I think this would probably all impact fire nation family structures:

- They might need to be very multi generational, because you need a strong support network to manage child care. Villages might live in close communities - "oh, Anzu's kid burnt their mattress, let's rally together to find them a replacement" or they set up a fire bender specific playgroup type stuff.

- Or alternatively, maybe parents would be unlikely to have multiple children, especially not close together in age so there would be lots of only children and small nuclear families, and the societal pressure that this would bring to a young kid.

So, is there any canon that can confirm or deny my musings? Do you have any thoughts on how young benders would impact society?
