Hi everyone ( included some pictures 4/6 rats) Sesshi, Nezumi, Tsuki and Yonaka. All rats are female.

i’m wondering, do you experience your rats switching personalities based on when you take them? Either like a neutral small room ( shower ) or how they act in / near the cage or in other spaces?

My rat alpha Sesshi HATES being touched in the cage. Truly she will run away and I have to chase her to be able to pick her up. Same if I let her out of the cage and let her run around she seems genuinely terrified of my touch. she will sometimes come and smell me and walk on my lap but that’s IT.

But when I bring her to the shower. She genuinely becomes the sweetest most cuddly rat out of everyone. She’ll let me handle her, she’ll walk all over me, climb on me. And most of all she loves just staying in my hoodie and relax there. (As demonstr in the last picture) Every time I take her to the shower and we just sit there for an hour I’ll hear a lot of bruxing and I’ll see a lot of boggling. I don’t get it? Why is she so different? Do any of you know? It’s not just her, Yonaka (the brown one), another rat who is also not too found of humans in or near her cage is almost the same. Just not to this extreme. She will brux and boggle in the shower and is much easier to handle. Why?

Does your rats switch personalities?
