Teen in difficult living situation
So basically I have two 9yrs large breed dogs, my dad says the dogs are not allowed in any part of the house except my bedroom and outside when he’s home because he doesn’t like them. They have very comfortable beds and good outdoor beds my mom bought them, but like? Bro? They are 9yrs old. I can only take them to the living room when he’s not home and they get so happy! Immediately when he’s back I call them to the room, they usually listen but I can tell they are sick and tired of this garbage. Oh and this “rule” started like 1 year ago so they were used to living everywhere their whole life. I try to take them on walks but my mom said only walking one dog at a time because of their size, and I have to leave other while I do other walk and my dad will come into my room and get the dog at home up and just overall bother them. Idk why he does this. I have a door, but it doesn’t lock. I feel bad my dogs have such limited space, our backyard isn’t even that big. No grass just pavement. I feel like a terrible dog owner but just keep in mind I’m 15 before saying anything. Soon I’ll be 16 so I think I could get a license to take them to dog parks, but like those are so dangerous at 10yrs old senior dogs and I don’t even think my dad would buy me a car any time soon. My mom would if she had enough money.
What can I do for my dogs? Should I get emancipated? I’m very independent already cooking my own food and all, I know laundry, dish washing, cleaning, taking care of my dogs, keeping up with their food and routines, scheduling and keeping track of their vet care, pet sitting, basic cooking and baking, organizing, taking care of animals, and handling responsibilities on my own. I’m very talented singing, art, dog care very detailed, being creative, and learning things on my own. I’m also good at understanding my dogs’ behavior and noticing when something is wrong with them. I’m interested in jobs that would let me take care of animals and work while homeschooling so I could help support rent, food, medical/dental care, and my dogs expenses. I don’t have a job just yet because I can’t figure out how to leave my dogs alone at home safely.
