Relation between ancient Chinese astronomy and Tommy?

For those who are familiar with ancient Chinese mythology, they have designated these 4 mythical beasts (四象, Sìxiàng) with the way ancient Chinese astronomers divided up the sky. Basically, they divided the sky into 28 lunar mansions, then grouped them into four sets of seven stars. And what's interesting is that the four sets were all marked with a mythical beast based on how the stars were shaped together.

When I saw this I immediately thought of Tommy. He played both the Green Dragon and White tiger. What's interesting is how in the original Mighty Morphin series: the White Tiger and the Green Dragon are basically Tommy's 2-sided characters and polar opposites. The Green Dragon was an antagonist mainly, and the White Dragon was the protagonist. Opposite ends of the spectrum in the same manner of East (Green Dragon) to West (White Tiger).

Now I'm not exactly sure how these beasts/zords were chosen for Tommy in the show, it was probably stemming from how the original Japanese series wrote it out. But a lot of Japanese anime/animations already stems from ancient Chinese mythology/folklore.

Anyways, I just found this to be an interesting observation.
