Recycling Schweppes Tonic bottles

Hi all

Sorry for asking here but I am in Australia and it seems appropriate

When you recycle Schweppes tonic bottles there is just a single recycle symbol suggesting to me that the whole bottle and lid together should go in the recycling

Some people throw away the lids which seems a waste. And most reycle directives give clear directions if lids are to be treated differently to the rest of the container

And if they are recylceable should they be left attached to the bottle or not. Some reycling directives clearly state whether lids should be attached or not

What does Australia think? Sorry but it is Gin and Tonic time of day
