For this Discovery Flight, I took Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 over Iran’s Lut Desert — one of the hottest places ever measured on Earth.

The idea actually came from a **new temperature gauge I recently added to Avionics Buddy**. I thought: what better place to test it than one of the hottest places on the planet?

Well… by the time we got there, the gauge was showing **15°C. 😂**

This is also my **first proper long-form Discovery Flight**, so consider this the beginning of the experiment.

I’m also still getting used to talking on camera while flying — and apparently discovering that my audio setup could use an upgrade. 😄 It’s all part of figuring out the format as I go.

And yes… I decided to **land right in the middle of the desert**.

The landing is definitely on the rookie side, but that’s part of the fun. I’m learning as I go, exploring interesting places around the world and trying different aircraft, airports and destinations along the way.

Sometimes the destination is an airport, sometimes it’s a landmark, and sometimes it’s simply somewhere on Earth that makes you think: *I want to see what that looks like from the air.*

I recorded the full flight here:

**Where should the next Discovery Flight take us?**

Give me a country, landmark, strange location or airport below. ✈️
