Understand What An Auction Is
Sellers (and some buyers) need to learn and understand what an auction is and how it works. Sale prices at auction are not "market value"..it's "perceived value", based on buyer preference/wants/needs, perception of resale value, and perception of overall value. A winning bid is the most any of the buyers there are willing to pay; the starting bid is SUPPOSED to be the minimum that the seller will accept. This is where the sellers don't seem to grasp reality. If you start at $1, that means you accept selling for $1. And not whining about it. Think it should sell for at least $6? Then start the auction at $6. Either you get a buyer or it doesn't get sold and you try again later. But telling bidders in chat to intentionally bid themselves up just so you can make more host commission money is absurd. Do you set a ceiling? Is there a limit at which point you say "that's just too much for this"? No, there isn't. So why should the buyer be expected to set the floor. Thats seller responsibility. This is how auctions work. And buyers need to stop going into chats and saying "bid it up, or they won't sell stuff anymore". Thats how the free market works! Buyers are not responsible for ensuring a seller makes a higher profit. These sellers aren't your "friends", they are merchants looking to get as much as they can for their goods, and they don't care whether you can afford it or not or have a spending problem. So stop shilling for them and accept what auctions are.
