Would you still try to have a sexual relationship with a guy who doesn't communicate at all?
I (31m) have been staying with a friend of mine (28m) whom I've known for about five years. I've been living here for the last four months while I save money to get another place, and we have sex occasionally. He's told me that he loves me over text before, and part of the reason I agreed to stay with him is that he said I made his world brighter. I've always had a bit of a crush on him because he was the first guy I hooked up with on Grindr and the first guy I went on a real date with, instead of just having sex and never seeing him again.
The thing is, he's bipolar and unmedicated. Most of the time, when we're not having sex, he treats me like I don't exist. He doesn't try to talk to me, never responds to my texts, and mostly gives one-word replies when I attempt to speak with him in person. I understand he has a condition I don't know much about, and I'm not belittling that in any way. But I can't help feeling disrespected when I text him to tell him I like him and get no reply, while I see him constantly on his phone. It’s clear he doesn't like me that way, but he could at least tell me that instead of ignoring me while still waking me up in the middle of the night for sex.
Lately, I’ve been stressing because I'm moving in the next few days, and I haven't been able to perform when he comes onto me, which embarrasses me more and makes something that used to feel intimate and exciting become something I want to avoid. It’s gotten to the point where I don't even think I want to stay in contact with him after I leave. It would be different if he talked to me, but he doesn’t, and that makes me feel like I'm being used for sex and help with bills.
