SEBI stopped KYC portability for NRIs? Can't invest in new fund houses anymore

Hey guys, just wanted to check if anyone else is running into this issue.

Tried starting a new SIP with a different fund house this week and it got flat out rejected. turns out SEBI ended the temporary portability relaxed period for "KYC Registered" status users.

Basically if you don't have an Aadhaar linked Indian phone number, your status on CAMS/CVL is likely just "KYC Registered". earlier they allowed us to invest in new AMCs anyway, but now if you want to buy funds from a new AMC, you gotta resubmit physical docs or foreign address proofs all over again.

Existing SIPs seem to be fine, but new fund houses are a pain in the ass unless your status says "KYC Validated".

Anyone here managed to get their status changed to Validated from abroad without Aadhaar? how long did CAMS take to clear the IPV video call?
