How to accept they may never initiate?

I still love him, but he's never checked on me once. I don't know how to stop loving someone that doesn't exist anymore.

He pulled away again after we reconnected and now I'm hoping that the reason he distanced himself is because I never gave him the opportunity to initiate contact in his own terms.

Is it possible to move on while still having hope?
