Sahod vs Mental Health?
I’m 29, M. I’ve recently switched from a chill, light work job to a fast-paced high-demanding one. There wasn’t really that much of a need for me to switch jobs other than that the new job is a higher paying one (it was around a 60% increase) and the company was well known worldwide (prestigious, some might say).
Problem is, since I was very familiar with my previous work (I was around 4 years into the job), the process got to a point where I could do the job on autopilot and everything was anticipated so there weren’t that much surprises when it comes to what I’ll work on for the day. In this new role that I have, everything is very spontaneous and most of the tasks are ad hoc. There aren’t also a lot of training opportunities and people kind of expect you to already know what you’re doing once you start. They also expect you to work overtime (at times from 8am to 12am and sometimes over the weekend too).
It now has gotten to a point where i’m having anxiety every time I go to work and i can feel my mental health slowly getting worse to the point where dark thoughts are starting to creep in.
Now, I think I have the opportunity to go back to my old job however, my old position has now been filled and i would have to start back at an entry-level position. If you were in my position, would you go back and accept this offer or try to wade through the waters to find someplace where the grass is “greener” without any assurance?
I get that there’s no perfect workplace and that everyone’s struggling in their own ways, but would you think going back to my old company at a lower pay is worth it to save my mental health?
