Looking to replace HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless
Location: Europe
Budget: Under €150 hopefully, but not hard-set
Use: Primarily music at home on desktop; Gaming is secondary. Portability is not a concern.
Tonal balance: I'm not overly familiar with the subtleties, but something mildly bass-boosted that will be suitable for guitar and cymbals metal/jazz
Previous headphones: I've been using the HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless for 4-5 years now and have been generally satisfied, but want to have a good replacement in mind soon.
Positives (for me):
- Solid sound quality
- Over-ear makes them convenient at home
- The USB plug is preferred over Bluetooth (it's reliable)
- Excellent battery life (at least 14 hours currently) and charge rate
- Decent range
- Comfortable head cover (pleather (?) also peeling away)
Negatives (none of these are dealbreakers, but undesired):
- The pleather (?) on the ear cushions and head cover started slowly falling apart after ~2 years, leaving small black patches on the floor constantly. I opted to just give in and removed it entirely after ~3.5 years.
- The attachable microphone & mute button were never used.
- The LED lighting on the outside is completely redundant (drains battery, non-customizable on this model, looks bad). Worse yet, the charging indicator is just the LED lighting breathing option. I need to turn the covers downward to not see the bright red breathing lighting.
- The volume scroll wheel started being entirely unreliable ~3 years in. I tried repairing it, but it still goes up or down regardless of input and is impossible to control.
- Lack of pause button.
Other headphones: I also have a pair of JBL Tune 510BT that I use primarily on mobile. The part I like about them (beside folding very compactly) are the dedicated pause and volume up/down *buttons* that can skip songs when held down.
Let me know if I can provide any more information and thanks for the advice in advance!
