Ode to Oceanus - Personal Poetry

the mist breeched
a face, cold-cast
marvel these sea-spires
your isle at last

blurred by this,
you have given name
and rise now
under the dreamer's etch

unfold the lay of sand by step
cast to part the graywashed veil
in the echoes of your somnolence
the shore wakes, broke for you

to bore your visage, sunder
and twist your words to implore
yet you've hewn to heft in such place
this titan of your magnanimous light

who could hold this image?
could any rise to cup earth, sun, sky?
stand a specter cold-cut against seawind unrelenting?
settle marble upon shifting, restless sands?

how you gift her
in every cliffside sketch
how you sieve her
from turn of sea,
Oceanus
