In Chess
- A player has no legal moves left to make.
- The player's king is not in check.
- The game ends immediately in a draw (no one wins or loses)
In Daily Life
- A standstill in talks, arguments, or work where both sides refuse to give in.
- A tie or block in a game, war, or business deal where no team can get ahead.
- A lock in politics where leaders cannot agree on new laws
