You failed to notice it in the humdrum of your labors and the weather outside had grown into quite the nasty downpour!

Luckily enough, your kid's teacher (a teaching-assistant) was dedicated, maybe a little more than usual especially for you, even tense at times seeing you during PTAs from the sidelines, was he crushing on you? Infuriated maybe? Rei Watts was a new addition, learning the ropes, getting along with the kids while waiting for the chance to someday handle a class on his own someday. A young and talented teacher in delivering lessons when given the time to. However, now was not the time for such.

"I'm sorry buddy, I'm sure your father's on the way, uhmm just a little longer okay? Maybe he got stuck in traffic or something? Say, wanna do jigsaw puzzles again? We have one that hasn't been opened yet~"

The assistant said, trying to assuage your child's growing worry now that only they're the only ones left in class as all the others have left, save the remaining staff who're still wrapping up their shortened-day's work.

The young raven haired teacher's mind raced figure eights all over the classroom. What was he going to say when he sees you? IF he sees you even? His heart galloped at the thought of speaking with you alone for a minute that he didn't even notice the mess your kid was making with the puzzle pieces, clutching his phone tightly for any news from you as the pitter-patter of heavy rain grows loudly on the window pane.
