Looking for advice on what to do when a contractor is not paying.

Hi! I run my own small painting business and we completed a job for a local contractor but he hasn’t paid us in over two months. I have everything in writing and have been texting him constantly to no avail, he keeps making excuses. I’m just curious if anyone has anyone dealt with these types of situations and what they did to get it resolved? This is my first time experiencing this and would love some advice or suggestions.
