Cross state road trip ahead: what dashcam and roadside gear do you pack?

Trip Planning

Driving from Chicago to Denver next month, roughly 2000 miles total. The route goes through plains and mountain areas, so weather and temperatures will shift quite a bit along the way.

I’ve been working through my gear list lately. I already picked up a jump starter and a few storage bins, but I still haven’t settled on a dash cam.

A front-only cam definitely won’t cut it for me. I want to capture the roadside scenery, keep up with rear traffic, and also record little moments inside the car.

What other factors should I be considering? What models are you all using? And besides a dash cam and jump starter, what gear do you consider must-haves for long road trips?
