The EP is out and I have to say, Pinky Up really had no place on this project.

I get that this isn’t supposed to he cohesive like an album, but Pinky Up has a jarringly different sound then the other tracks. Though the lyrics were pretty annoying to half of the fanbase, it was an energetic track, and we could see them explore this chaotic hyperpop sound (if done RIGHT).

then comes animal. a completely different, standard, and dated pop sound from ed sheeran. it’s not a bad song, but doesn’t make sense sonically.

then you have the rest of these songs that came out today. Bel Air & That Way work really well with Animal. Hooti Frutti and Pinky Up stick out like sore thumbs.

i have two problems. first of all, Pinky Up is an extremely immature song and aesthetic that’s paired with the most mature and vulgar songs we have EVER heard from KATSEYE. Animal & That Way are more suggestive, but going from Pinky Up to Hooti Frutti is such a huge leap. who is the target demographic? i don’t find issue with them doing a more mature sound, but mixing it with the clean sound doesn’t make sense.

then, sonically it just doesn’t make sense. Pinky Up was a sound. it was a bit polarizing but the song did well and everyone had fun. they should just commit to it. or, do the contemporary pop sound of animal, bel air and that way. or be risky, bold and mature with songs like Hooti Frutti.

of course i get they are still experimenting, but artists usually can stick to a sound for an EP. plus jumping from music video to music video, its a mixture of random aesthetics.

honestly, the songs aren’t even bad. it’s just hearing them all together is really confusing and leaves you uncertain. but i think the main issue i have is with Pinky Up being the lead, while being the least kin to the other songs - both subject wise and sound wise.
