Is getting a used m340i as a first car a good idea with a 35k budget?

I’m looking for my first car and my budget is around $35k. I’ve been looking at a few cars and the BMW M340i has had my attention because I really like the performance, looks, and interior.

I’ve heard that the B58 engine itself is really good and pretty reliable, but I’ve also heard that BMWs in general can be unreliable and expensive to maintain. I’m wondering if the M340i is actually a reliable car overall or if the B58 being reliable doesn’t necessarily make the rest of the car reliable.

Do you guys think M340i is a good choice as a first car, or if the insurance, maintenance, and overall ownership costs would make it a bad idea. I’d want something that’s fun but still practical and reliable enough to daily.

Would you guys recommend an M340i at this price, or would you go with something else around $35k? If you’d choose something else what would you recommend?
