Roger Moore in a role pre-dating The Saint by one year

There have been other posts about non-Bond roles, but this movie floored me. I’ve seen Moore play other parts, of course, usually military officers and such.Stumbled upon this film tonight [EDIT: free on the Family Movie Classics channel] in a role the polar opposite of 007, Moore plays a young fur trapper (!) in the 1961 B Western, Gold of the Seven Saints starring Clint Walker. Of course I know he was in Maverick right before this, so I guess another Western wasn’t that out there.

But! Roger spends much of the film mouth agape in befuddled, wide-eyed infatuation with a fiery Latina love interest. And I can’t tell if his accent is supposed to be Irish or Australian. The whole thing was pretty awful.

It’s fun to come across stuff like this in the wild, so to speak. But what a difference a year makes!
