Great duel!! Still learning.

So forgive me while I Sperg, but I love this game and the challenging questions it can propose.

Tonight one of the guys was wanting hard competition so he could go to a tournament soon and feel on the right edge.

So I told him I would add cards you just don't use with friends! I threw in all sorts of dirty tricks and The Great Old One. Full Water with just an earth supplement mostly.

We didn't get to play though, we had a newbie, and with myself being so new but disabled, I've had way too much time to read the rules more than experience them. So I'm loving the ability to watch all the cool methods people have to winning the realm.

Anyways, please forgive me. I play the other newbie, thinking I'll go easy, I don't have to. Kid, he's 23, he has chops! And he built a deck from nothing and it plays like a champ! Great match, but my fire lethal deck with a Savior was a bit harsh. So I won, but the Organizer played him next and they had a blast.

So on with the show, the organizers wife offers to play er tourney style deck, and I agree instantly. I only brought tourney decks so I want to lose more than anything to learn!

So we start up and she, no gems, no high level gimmicks, no. She just starts drawing every card in the deck. She's playing Mago and I love him. I'm back on my water Necro with a touch of air.

I do the Necro things, draw useful cards for turn 3 and up while I let my minions move out, ready to defend or attack if she can't produce much either. She drops a Highland Priestess, and a few others, but she didn't grab a ring of morrigan, no she grabbed a dang Wiccan tool of some sort. And I'm just doing my best to block what I can, because it's easy to tell she's got something big in mind. So I go and get as many spells, even using my Necro to draw a siteso I could focus on getting a response.

Turn 3. She drops an amulet I'll learn it's name, aaand does a Titan, wiping out my two skeletons I accidentally moved together, and smiled as she said, oh and now I use my three spells to do common sense, and when I tell you I thought I had it, I had drawn my mesmerism, I didn't have the affinity, but had an Aer. So next turn I felt triumphant as for two mana, I took her giant! Lord knows that moment was short lived.

She smiled graciously and by the next turn she summoned a 1 mana Doom of Dinlum.

My friends. Have you ever had a moment where you wished you had just saved a card? It's the only thing that trumps him. I have love potion. But she has lightning bolts and I've already had to lose the titan, and then most of my life the following turns. I can't risk making my Avatar the ultimate target of her Ire. And before you ask, the thunder. She can find it on repeat with common sense. "But she only has four!" "Archie says he has six."

So I put up my greatest defense, I even managed to pull Army of the Dead! He lived a turn before the sky took him. I had even managed the ultimate pull of in my opener was the transform to Mutants altar. So I had a great setup! Just no way to deal with him.

So in the end I did my utmost best and lasted 10 turns due to a turn 6 Abundance. Lord I love that one. Anyways if you missed the story, TLDR I died because I didn't know about the true name Doom of Dinlom is. But I'm super glad I do now!

And for the extra info on this, I had answers in the deck, but she still was a massive help on stuff, she pointed me out the Symmetric Sacrifice was a great counter. And a land that is lost on me due to my whole back seizing up. But I digress. She told me exactly what can be used to beat the deck. Funny stuff. This is why I love this game. The community is amazing stuff! Thanks for the fun night!

(The extra info I guess again, I'm AWFUL with names, bad. Awful. I one time called a friend my name, no joke, just names do not stick in my brain, sorry.)
