Dear Romhack Devs: Oldheads would love more GBC-style romhacks!

First: I’m so pumped we suddenly are in this golden age of romhacking with Pokémon. It’s beautiful to see so many new opportunities to play!

I just wish there were more GB/GBC romhacks. I was 10 when I played Blue, got into Silver, played almost all of Sapphire, and then kind of aged out and didn’t finish Diamond. Now I’m constantly looking to scratch the itch of my younger days, and so far, that’s going okay, but it seems like almost every new quality romhack is GBA. I’m curious about the reason there don’t seem to be more for GBC. I’m assuming the lack of titles is partially due to more love for Emerald? Or is it partially a hardware thing?

-Played Red++ [enjoyed it thoroughly]
-Played Unova Red [let down by the fact that it was a simple roster change without adjusted cries]
-Played Brown (Anniversary Edition) [LOVED it]
-Played Orange for GBC (not Orange Islands) [was very fun]
-Playing Black/White 3 [SUPER into it]

Right now on the docket I have:

-Legacy Crystal and Polished Crystal (Faithful), though I am torn on which to play
-Prism

Looking ahead though, it doesn’t seem like there’s much else for the GBC style games. I’m not great at all the EV/IV stuff and have pretty basic knowledge, so I’m not looking for Kaijo, Fakemon, or Nuzlocke styles, just original-feeling games (demakes would be cool too, but it seems like they’re all at least GBA). Regardless, if you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading! Any input or info would be appreciated!

tl;dr - If you or someone you know someone who develops romhacks, please encourage them to make a GBC romhack, or can you shed some light on the reason why there aren’t more of them? Thank you!
