ME1 was a great RPG

MASS EFFECT 2

I played through the whole game as an inflitrator only using a pistol... maybe sometimes a sniper rifle but mostly a pistol. Used Liara and Wrex for Biotic powers, and i just shot people with a pistol. It was awesome.

Now im playing ME2 for the first time as an infiltrator and.... i cant really do that. I kinda have to use a sniper rifle. This game is not an RPG... Not at all. Everything from the weapon system (just upgrades? Why do I have to collect four sets of armor to get more armor? I can only wear one at a time...) to the skills is highly limiting in terms of what kind of "build" you want to make... you just kinda have to do the same stuff over and over again. And that applies to the level design too. It might as well be an on-rails pop up shooting gallery, thats what it feels like. Enemies teleport on top of you, shoot you a bunch without you even knowing they were there, you take cover, pop up, shoot them, repeat.

Except your squad mates arent very good at taking cover, so they die. A lot. You can order them around... but good look getting them to go where you want.

How did they botch the gameplay so badly from 1 to 2? They already had a great combat and armor system in 1, highly customizable. The combat likewise let you be very creative in how you wanted to approach situations.

And dont even get me started on the writing. Renegade options are all Cerberus bootlicking, it feels awful especially considering how my renegade Shepard felt about cerberus in ME1... VERY odd choices all around.

I havent finished the game yet but hinestly I can see the "twist" coming a mile away. Theres no way in hell >!the illusive man doesnt betray the shit out of me.!<

!He is just so shady and I know something bad will come of it, and my Shepard should too!!!!< Anyway just had to rant because I honestly am not enjoying this game nearly as much as the first.
