How to avoid sunnies from stealing my worms?

Sometimes I want to try to use night crawlers to fish for bass… the problem is the dang sunnies are insane and ravage every worm I throw out. I tried a bigger hook and a longer worm but they stole worms from me like crazy.

Should I just avoid them? When I’m not having any luck with my plastics I sometimes like to try worms, but the sunnies are out of control.
