is there a chance helix won’t heal?

my helix piercing rejected or fell out when i was sleeping almost 2 months ago now and i was told to wait 3-4 months for the tissue to be soft and not a noticeable feeling hard skin where the piercing use to be. it’s been about 2 months and the tissue still feels rough. is there a chance it won’t heal and i can’t get it repierced?

i know no one’s a doctor but has anyone been in this similar situation? am i overthinking it :(
