What do you guys think about stone-removal surgery?
I’ve been doing research about my gallstones lately and consider a lot of treatment options.
I recently found a clinic in China that offers a gallbladder-preserving procedure where they remove the stones while keeping the gallbladder. I actually had a consultation with them and have been looking through all the information they provided. They say their surgeons will cut into the organ and take the stones and clean everything inside.
On paper it sounds kinda convincing. They answer all my questions, plan to do the whole body examination when I arrive to rule out any issues, and the idea of keeping the gallbladder instead of removing the whole organ obviously sounds appealing to me.
I’m seriously considering travelling there for the procedure, but before I make a decision like that, I’d really like to hear what other people think.
Does this sound like a reasonable option to you, or would you personally stick with standard gallbladder removal?
And has anyone here actually had a stone-removal procedure like that? I’d especially like to hear what happened months or years later — did the stones come back, or did everything stay fine?
I want to hear some real experiences before I commit to travelling halfway across the world for it so if anyone had either positive or negative feedback, please share it with me.
