Postpartum thyroiditis and a fussy reflux baby
How are you guys doing it? I recently found out I have a severely underactive thyroid which has massively affected my mood, energy, everything really. My 5 month old is having a flare up of silent reflux so she’s much fussier than normal, she is a very happy baby but understandably she’s not so happy right now. It’s not her fault, I know it isn’t really mine either, my body is literally trying to run on an empty tank but I suppose it’s just getting to me. I’m crying so often because just as we got feeding and bowels working beautifully, the reflux decided to make an entrance and it’s knocked everything back and it’s just a lot right now. She is on Gaviscon and lactulose which has helped massively but she still seems to be struggling with some constipation which in turn is making her fussy. Again, understandable. But this also means her feeds aren’t going so great again. She’s not the kind of baby who will drink little and often denounce she’s done, she won’t have anymore until her next bottle. I’m just so tired. I’m exhausted. I have an incredible partner and if I didn’t have him, I believe I’d have had a mental breakdown by now. I just wish it didn’t take weeks for these meds to work. I’m tired of being tired. I’m tired of watching my baby so uncomfortable. I know people have it so much worse. I feel guilty for feeling this way when everything going on can be fixed and others with worse ailments may never be fixed. But right now it’s hard. I’m struggling.
