Lein on property

Location: Southern California

We had a leak back in May 2023 that was resolved and paid through homeowners insurance and there were several companies involved. Today we were contacted by one of the companies (lead testing)saying they are going to put a lein on our property because we owe them about 1k. I am near certain they were paid. Regardless, I am wondering if there are any time limits etc that would protect us here? Does it matter if their interactions were with my spouse and the house is in my name? We were married at the time, but I bought the house prior to marriage. Any guidance will be much appreciated
