Week 2 Mounjaro Update - 4kg Down So Far
WEEK 2 UPDATE — 96 KG → 92 KG
Hey everyone! Back again with my Week 2 update.
For anyone who didn’t see my first post, I started at 96 kg (212 lbs), I’m 173 cm (5’8”), and I started on 2.5mg. After Week 1 I was down to 93 kg, and I’ve stayed on 2.5mg for Week 2.
WEEK 2 RESULT
I weighed in at 92 kg (203 lbs) this week, so that’s another 1 kg (2.2 lbs) down.
That puts me at 4 kg (8.8 lbs) lost in two weeks, from 96 kg to 92 kg.
Obviously Week 1 was the big drop at 3 kg, which I knew would include a lot of water weight, so I’m actually really happy with another 1 kg this week.
And honestly, seeing 92 on the scale was probably the biggest positive of the week. Getting below 93 felt really good.
APPETITE & CRAVINGS
My appetite was pretty normal throughout the week and I could finish all of my meals. They still satiate me enough, so I’m not walking around starving or struggling not to eat.
There was one weird exception though.
The morning after my second shot, I woke up with this crazy hunger feeling. It was actually the biggest negative of Week 2 because my first thought was basically: “Wait… am I already becoming resistant to this?” 😂
Luckily, that feeling didn’t continue.
I have noticed that toward the end of the week, some of the cravings start creeping back in a little bit. Nothing like before I started, but I can definitely notice a difference compared with the beginning of the week.
That makes me feel like the 2.5mg isn’t quite as effective toward the end of the week anymore. I’m still sticking with 2.5mg for another two weeks though, so I’m interested to see how Weeks 3 and 4 compare.
The biggest thing for me is that the mental effect around food is definitely still there.
I was sitting in a café with friends this week and everyone ordered food. Normally, I would have ordered something too just because everyone else was eating. And knowing myself, I probably would’ve gone all out.
This time I could just sit there while everyone ate and think, “Nah, I’m good.”
No struggle. No feeling like I was missing out. I just didn’t need it.
For me, moments like that are probably an even bigger sign that it’s working than simply feeling less hungry.
FOOD & WATER
Calories have still been around 2,000–2,100 per day.
I’m still aiming for at least 150g of protein and around 30g of fibre. Overall that’s going well, although I did have two days this week where my protein intake was lower than I wanted.
Water is still much better than before I started. I’m generally drinking around 2.5–3L, although I noticed that during the last 2–3 days of the week it became a little harder to get all my water in.
That’s something I’ll keep an eye on next week.
GYM & ACTIVITY
Gym-wise, this was actually a really good week.
I trained 5 times, which I’m really happy with.
Walking, on the other hand… not so much. 😅
I definitely got fewer steps than I wanted this week. I’ve just been really busy, so getting my 8–10k steps in every day didn’t happen.
That’s something I want to improve again next week.
SIDE EFFECTS
Probably the best news: basically none.
The crazy headache I had after my first shot didn’t come back at all after the second one.
No nausea, no stomach issues, no constipation or any other noticeable side effects. Apart from that strange hunger the morning after the shot, Week 2 was really smooth.
GOING INTO WEEK 3
I’ve just taken my third 2.5mg shot, this time on the right side of my stomach.
I’m staying on 2.5mg for another two weeks before going to 5mg.
Overall, I’m still really happy with how things are going.
I’m especially curious to see whether the cravings coming back slightly toward the end of the week becomes more noticeable during Weeks 3 and 4, or whether things settle again as my body gets used to the medication.
On to Week 3! 💪
As always, I’ll post another update next week. And if anyone is at a similar stage or had the same weird hunger after their shot, I’d be interested to hear your experience.
