How to move on from first heartbreak?

It’s my first time dating and after this break up I don’t feel like dating anymore. I really loved this guys but the thing is he’s a Muslim, I’m a Catholic. He loved me first. I think he was really genuine. Since the beginning of our relationship he would always state that the intention of our dating is marriage, if not we should stop.

Long story short, we dated for 3 months and then he went to europe for a vacation. He tried asking for a break from dating bcs of guilt (dating is not allowed in his religion). But a week later, he begged me to stay and that he really wanted to marry and that he told his parents already. But obv, his parents objected. Then he said he got convinced (that we dont know anything abt marriage) and said to me that we won’t get married (ever). And he wont be coming back to the country i’m in now.

I feel so stupid bcs I really didn’t want to get married at first, but he kept instilling it in my mind that I also really wanted to marry him. But I know his parents are going to object. I was willing to accept that but why would he say “ever” 😔

Will he ever reach out to me again? What should I do? If not, how do I move on? I keep reminiscing our time before.
