How to ask my bf to match hair colors w me no glue no borax cuz im too shy

Weve been together for so long but i still get so shy to ask about things from my bf, and he himself even mentioned to me alot that he wants to match hair colors w me like dye them the same color (like yk vibrant ones) and i agreed but the thing was my parents werent agreeing but his did. Now my parents agreed and i can finally do it now but im too freaking shy to ask and idk how to ask 😭 do i js tell him im gonna do it so he remembers himself? Idk im js overthinking it alot like what if he says no and i shut down and i feel stupid for asking 😭
