Schools are justified by passing kids who aren’t meeting requirements

I often see the take that we need to hold these kids back but for what? In my expletive it doesn’t change anything, the kids go right back into the same system that already failed them, it’s not like they received special support or extra help going forward. All failing kids does is push them back a grade level, this doesn’t help when everyone else still moves on but they are now removed from their peer group to redo the exact same thing as a social outcast/failure the second time around. if anything we should punish teachers for failing students.
