my father has a small ego

My father has been verbally abusing my mother for her whole life . sometimes he has even mentioned that he will get physical and has been physical with her many time ( only two times after she got remarried to my father when i was around 7 years old , i am 17 now ) .

HIs father passed away 3 months ago , now he has no parents only my mother , me and my 19 year old brother . i get he may be depressed after his father passed away but he never tells the reason why he is depressed as we dont face a financial problem anymore , my mother talks only when she does her duty like asking if he wants to eat , how is his health .

the last time he hit my mother was 3 yeas ago and since then everything has stayed peacefull . but there were arguments that my fathers sisters used to come stay at our house for the summer holidays but the problem was that they used to take our room for like 2 months . we had to sleep in another room . but this year one of them couldnt come as my cousin is giving university admission test . and my father thinks that she isnt coming because my mother has argued before with her and has been arguing .

Today my mother just went upstairs to ask what he wants to eat and my father lashed out saying , get out and i dont want to talk to you and that my life has been ruined since marrying you again . he also screamed at us that yea yea , keep using phone all the time and laptop but never study . my mother kept saying we dont even talk to you anymore than why are you annoyed .

my father and mother have been living in seperate rooms and since my grandfather has passed away my father is happy with nothing like food , clothes , seeing us play , he hates that we question him so he can share his worries with us .

my brother has been getting a gpa of 2.3 / 4.0 for the last two semisters . and my A level first year result was D Bio , U in chem , U in physics . beleive it or not most of A level students failed sciences like only 29 out of 150 students even got a B .

i have also worked hard and brought my grade of bio from a U to a D and my chem paper was already going to be retaken . if i had passed physics i would have not needed to repeat the A level first year from coming september .

i know he maybe stressed that our results are not good but he also said that he wanted to make a family , but he is not able to make one which is confusing because he has built a family , provided love and also took care for every responsibility . the only bad thing right now is that we got a bad result and his father passing away doesnt make sense to be upset about because my grandfather has had been hospitalised for 7 months and finally he doesnt need to feel the pain anymore
