Need Help With Lag

When I drive in b42 the game becomes basically unplayable because of how laggy the game gets. I'm not sure if it's because of the trees, or the constant rendering of the vision cone, or zombie hordes, or all of it combined. I can't drive without constantly crashing due to the lag and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or know of any mods that could help out with the lag?
