Is Civil War supposed to be this annoying ?

Question

Hello, I returned to the game after 1.1.

I started a game as France to see the improvements to the Hundred Years' War, but I immediately got a Freedom Movement from 3/4 of my vassals. Is this normal? I didn't even have time to improve relations with them.

After winning the war (England attacked in the meantime), I got a Noble Civil War.

Then ensued a 15-year war, which still isn't finished, where I have to retake every little castle and siege down all my rebel vassals, while stacks of ~400 enemy troops constantly get behind my lines and retake everything I've conquered.

Is this normal? I've killed 99% of their soldiers and retaken ~75% of the land, yet I still have to retake every single region? I can't find a definitive answer, so if someone knows, please share.

If this is really the intended design by Paradox, it's one of the most annoying, low-effort, and incomprehensible design choices I've ever seen.
