Is it possible to reset a (same sex) friendship with someone after sleeping with them? Looking for advice.

I’m a man in my 30’s and split up with my long term girlfriend just over a year ago. We had been engaged and although we’ve managed to stay on good terms I was pretty down for a while afterwards.

During my low spell I started seeing a lot of a guy that I had become friendly with through work, who had separated from his wife. We kind of bonded because of our recent breakups and became close, however things took a turn I didn’t expect when we had sex after a drunken night out. It was my first time with a man and he said it was also is although to be honest I doubted that this was true based on how it went.

We became fuck buddies for a few months, the sex was great but it eventually petered out and we don’t really see much of each other anymore. It pretty much confirmed for me that I’m bisexual and I probably see my next relationship being with a man, but I’m not quite ready for this at the moment. To be honest, I don’t really know how he’d describe himself sexuality wise. He was pretty much maintaining he was straight latterly but I kind of doubt this based on how much he seemed to like seeing me naked!

I am looking for advice on how I can go about getting back to being friends with him, if that is even possible as he was a good support to me before we started having sex. Has anyone been through similar or got any advice on how I can broach this? I’m aware it may not be possible but I’d like to try. Happy to hear from straight, gay or bi people. Thanks!
