Best downhill braking technique? Science 🧪
Assume you have to go steeply downhill (8% grade) for miles and miles. And it's straight, so you're going to get more speed than you want the whole way down.
With a Toyota with hybrid eCVT, is it better to:
-
Use the "sports" mode to control the "gears", or don't? (engine braking happens in automatic but perhaps sports mode could give you more control to "lower the gear", I'm not sure)
-
Brake firmly to drop 10mph, then coast back up? Or brake on/off every few seconds, roughly even amount? Or brake constantly?
-
Pop open the door and use your shoe to further slow the descent? If so, please advise the best shoe for this.
Thank you
