I have my package now, so all is well but I am just dumbfounded at this and wanted to see if anyone’s experienced this before? sorry for the long post, I just needed to get it all out

Context: This was a package from work with a new laptop (which added to the anxiety) so it required an ID and signature. I live in a condo where a delivery driver might not be able to access my front door or contact me to come to the front entrance to collect it, so IT recommended sending it to a hold/pickup location. I did this with my initial laptop delivery to a Walgreens/FedEx location and had a good experience, and the closest FedEx pickup point to my new place is also in a Walgreens, so we had it shipped there.

As you can see in the screenshots- package was first delivered Tuesday morning around 10am- I didn’t see the text to come pick it up until Wednesday, my bad, so I went the soonest I could after work (7pm). Got there and noticed the status had updated to “Picked up” and staff was not helpful at all (I get it, they’re not FedEx, but you had a package that required ID delivered and then picked up, where did it go??). Suggested I call FedEx support so I did, and they just put in a ticket.

Next day (Thursday) I pulled up the tracking info before calling IT to have it ready and then - huzzah!! I see it’s back on the truck for delivery! I figured it was just a fluke, so planned again to go back right after work. I checked it later to make sure it was actually delivered and it was. Again, went as soon as possible after work but something in the back of my head told me to pull up the tracking info again as I was getting into the car. Picked up again right around the same time! At least I saved myself the trip, but why the heck were they taking my package again!! Crossed my fingers it would be the same deal the next day and I could just go during my lunch, and thankfully it was, so the delivered at 12:19pm was me receiving it. Took a minute for the staff to find it tho (they have a pickup locker behind the register and it wasn’t there, so they checked the back and there it was. The first time I went the employees didn’t mention or check the back).

I can’t seem to find any info online about FedEx drivers coming to pick packages back up to keep them at the FedEx facility overnight, and the Walgreens employees clearly weren’t aware of it (or just failed to mention that when I showed them it had been picked up for some reason) so I’m just really confused why it happened this way? Walgreens is 24 hours btw, and on the FedEx website and google, it says this location is open 6am-12am. Would appreciate any insight, thank you!!

(reddit pls don’t come at me for not going during my lunch/earlier any other day, my bf hit a bear and totaled his car and has to drive mine to work, so I was on his schedule until he could WFH today 🙏)

hold at location kept getting picked up at 5pm?
