Did I make the right decision by rejecting a 5,500 QAR electrical engineering job?
I’m a recent Electrical Engineering graduate in Qatar and recently received a job offer from an oil & gas company for 5,500 QAR/month.
The job was 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, with only Friday off.
I ended up rejecting the offer because I felt the salary was too low considering the working hours, and I believe I may be able to find something better.
I do have some previous engineering experience and technical experience, so I’m not completely starting from zero.
I know the job market for fresh graduates in Qatar can be difficult, so I’m wondering if I made the wrong decision.
For people working in Qatar, especially engineers:
- Is 5,500 QAR reasonable for a fresh electrical engineering graduate?
- Would you have accepted it just to get into the oil & gas industry?
- How realistic is it to find something better?
- What salary range should I realistically be targeting?
I’d appreciate honest opinions, especially from engineers or people involved in hiring in Qatar.
