Ways to share documents in DocHub
There are a few different ways to share documents online in DocHub, depending on who you want to see the doc and what you need them to do with it. I thought I’d put all the options in one post so you can see when you’d use each one.
- Send it for signature
- For anything that needs a signature, go with a Sign Request. It’s pretty flexible, so you can set it up the way you need: choose the signing order, turn on automatic reminders, and customize a bunch of other things too.
- Share a doc with specific permissions
- This is a good option if you need someone to review or work on the doc with you. Just add their email and choose how much access they need: Viewer if they only need to look at it, Contributor if they need to make changes, or Admin if they need full control.
- Share a document via a link
- A Share Link is probably the fastest way to share files online. Anyone with the link can view, download, or copy the doc. If they need to fill it out, you’ll have to turn it into a template first. And if you need to share sensitive documents securely, keep in mind that anyone who gets the link can access the doc, even though it isn’t public or searchable.
- Make the document public
- Making a doc Public means anyone online can view it, and it’ll show up on your public DocHub page too. This is really for stuff you’re comfortable putting out there for anyone to see. Definitely not anything sensitive.
- Share with your team
- If you have a DocHub organization, you can share a doc with your whole team by making the organization the document owner. Team members can then view or edit the doc based on their role in the organization and the doc’s privacy settings.
- Email it as a PDF
- Sometimes the best way to share a document online is just to send someone a copy. If they don’t need access to the document in DocHub, you can email the current version as a PDF attachment.
- - Send a fax
- And yep, fax is still an option. You can send the current version of a document as a fax, and you’ll get the delivery status by email
