Dog advice on what to do.

Advice

I'm reaching out to this community as I know you are all a sensible bunch and can hopefully help me with my dog issue.

My partner and I rescued a dog a number of months ago. Dog is a Lurcher and is six years old and had been in a shelter over a year and a half. He was very nervous at first but a few months of pup cups, trips away etc he came out of his shell.

Friendly dog that will sleep all day and then go on a 10km walk. We live in a new area big back garden all happy days.

One day, showing close family the house, everyone wants a nose. The young family member few years old gets a picture taken with the dog. And in the process gets a full bite to the face. Resulting in 2 sterry strips etc to the face. Tetanus injection etc. All family said "was do the right thing".

Went to vet logged bite. They refused to put down and wanted behaviour therapy used. Medical exam came back fine. Load of rubbish if you ask me personally.

Went for therapy, that day got back to the front garden. Neighbour came to house. While talking, dog takes a snap at a kid's Face. Missed it by milli milli, millimetres. Phew.

Back to vet to log bite. Vet says keep going with behaviour therapy or re-home. They won't euthanise.

I want to ring original shelter and return him. Herself won't as he will be put asleep. This is what she got from friends who used to work in a dog shelter.

I've contacted dog wardens and they said no kill policy in our part of Ireland.

She wants it to go straight to a home and not a shelter. I want it just rid of the place, have car will travel. She is hawking him around at dog minders.

My family have cut contact until in their words. "The retards do the right thing". She won't tell family about it as she doesn't want to lose the dog. Friends have said "we'll see you when it's gone."

The neighbours have warned kids to stay away from the house with the dog.

Thankfully no letter in the door from either party as they said "we want you to do the right thing".

How does one convince a partner to just get rod of a dog that is only going to cause hassle at our stage of life.

At this stage, it's going to break us apart.

Two months into this mess, any advice.
