Worried about “chunky” legs, feeling insecure about my body

Need Advice

Am 20 weeks pregnant and gained 6kg. So far thankfully all good with pregnancy.
I was never really the fittest person or a gym rat pre-pregnancy but i was fairly slim and toned to a degree. Because of work, i do 10,000 steps each shift and am an avid walker outside of work too, did strength training/body weight exercises about 2 times a week.

Since getting pregnant, i’ve tried to go to the gym 2 times a week for strength training and doing exercises that focus more on deep core/pelvic exercises/pregnancy types based on trimester on youtube. I would skip if i was excessively tired/nauseous.

I’ve been so happy to be pregnant really and watching my little baby grow and my main focus has been baby. Have been so proud of my growing baby bump and enjoying the little changes in my body, it made me think “wow, my body is growing a new human and this is amazing!” Gives me a whole ne appreciation for being a woman and for every mom i meet.

My husband has noticed my legs getting fatter/less toned and i realized that was starting to happen the last few weeks too. Went for a pregnancy massage which included lymphatic massage and omg what a difference it was on my legs.

I’ve started feeling low (my husband’s comments though well meaning as he’s worried about my health and pregnancy in general, hasn’t really helped my body image) about how i look especially since my legs look very different. Not in the way i’d be worried about a clot, it’s just less toned and well…yeah, softer and chunkier than my pre-pregnancy body. Gonna get myself some compression stockings to see if they help.

Any advice on managing body issues? Again i’m so so so thankful to be pregnant and have my baby. I was expecting myself to look and be pregnant as I am. But i guess the little comments and jokes after a while have gotten to me and my own physical judgement of my own body has also gotten to me too. Doesn’t help that i get recommend all the fit gym pregnant moms who still run and benchpress on instagram.

Please help fellow mamas 🙏 don’t have anyone to talk to about this. Thanks.
