Blender viewport

Hi, I am quite new to the blender and i have a question about seeing my project on viewport. I have lights, volumetric fog etc going on on my project but still when i work with it, when i want to change something on it i literally cant see because of fps and it keeps lagging. So everytime i have to render and see and keep adjusting but it is exhausting and taking tons of time. Is there a better way to being able to see the project while working on it on blender? How do you guys do this?
