Surgery Advice?

I had my first consultation for bottom surgery today. She explained the difference between vaginoplasty and Vulvoplasty and at the end asked me which I’d prefer. I was honest and told her I think I’d like to have penetrative intercourse in the future but dilating and the post surgery upkeep scares me like crazy. So I wasn’t sure. She asked me to think about it and come back in two weeks with a decision.

So I need help.

In order to get a vaginoplasty I need to have total hair removal which can take 6-20 months and then wait a year for surgery on top of that. The problem there is I’m hoping to move out of state for school next fall and coming back for surgery seems impossible since I’d have to come back for three weeks minimum. Plus they are the ones who would do my hair removal and I’m not sure it’d be finished by the time I move.

Getting a Vulvoplasty means I’d have surgery within a year with no need for hair removal, which fits with my life plans. Plus I was told that they can always do a vaginoplasty after a Vulvoplasty using the peritoneal flap technique, which I think I’d prefer to penile inversion anyway. So I could always have a second surgery later when life lines up with it more?

I’m just so torn. I don’t know how to decide or what to do.

Have any of you had surgery? How did you decide? Which surgery did you have? How was dilation and upkeep afterwards? Was it painful? Was it worth it? Help!!!
