AIO to what my mom said?
My parents divorced when I was 9 and I didn’t see my dad much after that (which was fine with me at the time, he’s an unpleasant person). As an adult, now in my mid 30s, I have struggled with self esteem and abandonment issues.
Whenever the topic of sending a reluctant kid to see their noncustodial parent comes up, my mom will say something like, “I’m so glad your dad didn’t want anything to do with you, I would have hated to send you somewhere you didn’t want to go.” I understand her point, but AIO to be upset over how flippantly she says that? I sure don’t feel lucky to have had a dad who doesn’t want me.
(FWIW, my mom had a wonderful father and a great relationship with him.)
