Don’t know if I want another kid but husband does
Basically I’m around 7 weeks pregnant with my second child (already have a 3 year old) and I remember how awful my first trimester was with my first but I knew that I didn’t just want one child. So, I’ve put myself through this again, the constant nausea, the fatigue, the heartburn etc. it’s awful, I feel like I’m a host to a parasite that is absorbing all of my happiness, health, motivation etc. I feel awful saying that because I know at the end of it there will (hopefully) be a beautiful child who I will deeply love just as I do with my first.
However, my husband and I always talked about 3 kids. We are both from a family where there’s 3 of us siblings and we totally agreed that 3 was the perfect number. However, having gone through an already traumatic pregnancy and birth and now going through it again, I just really don’t think I can do this again. I feel constantly sick, tired, anxious and on top of that this time I have a 3 year old and a full time job in a new country where I don’t have family around. I said to my husband this is the last time I’m doing this. 2 children is enough and he tried to argue back with ‘we agreed on 3’ ‘think about the long term’ etc etc. but he’s not going through all the physical changes and mental changes, I am. I know it’s only temporary but I feel like I’m in a living hell. I hate pregnancy so much, but I do feel like I’m letting him down and going back on my word.
Has anyone else been through anything similar? What did you end up doing? I have to also say my husband is a wonderful husband and a wonderful dad and he so loves being a dad that he wants 3+ kids but I just don’t think I can give that to him unfortunately and it’s really making me quite sad.
