Poppy Playtime - Chapter 6

"A Better Place"

The chapter begins exactly where Chapter 5 ended, inside the Data Center.

The Doctor quickly explains the plan he has spent all this time developing—the only possible way to destroy the Prototype. According to him, the key lies in creating the Negation Formula, the only substance capable of permanently neutralizing the Prototype.

To complete the formula, we must gain access to several restricted laboratory sectors and recover the necessary components. At the same time, the Doctor intends to search for parts that will allow him to build himself a new body.

Before setting off, we transfer the Doctor into Glowby. However, our current GrabPack is no longer sufficient for the challenges ahead. To continue, we must travel to the long-abandoned Innovation Wing, where its systems can be upgraded.

(Player's Identity Reveal)

After a short journey, we finally arrive at the Innovation Wing.

Inside, we discover the lifeless body of Leith Pierre, resting beside what was once our own office.

For the very first time, the Player speaks.

Through a series of flashbacks, the truth is finally revealed: why the Player was absent during the Hour of Joy, and the real reason they returned to the factory after all these years.

(Compound Hand & GrabPack 2.0)

After solving a short puzzle within the Innovation Wing, we successfully construct the GrabPack 2.0 and obtain the brand-new Compound Hand.

The Compound Hand allows the Player to safely store a limited amount of Poppy Gel inside the device.

When injected into an enemy, prolonged exposure to concentrated Poppy Gel proves fatal, making it a deadly weapon against living experiments.

In addition, the Compound Hand is capable of collecting the rare chemical components required to complete the Negation Formula, allowing the Player to continue the Doctor's plan.

As the Player continues deeper into the facility, the heavy footsteps of the Prototype begin echoing through the halls.

Realizing the danger, Giblet and the Player are forced to split up, each hiding in separate locations.

The Prototype orders Chum to locate the Player and their allies, instructing him to report back the moment they are found. Before leaving, the Prototype reveals that one of his hunters has already been dispatched to track us down.

After the threat passes, the Player, accompanied by the Doctor and Chum, quietly solves several more puzzles while making their way through the laboratories.

Eventually, they encounter Chum Chompkins, who appears desperate to tell them something.

Before he can speak, however, the Prototype suddenly arrives.

Without hesitation, Chum Chompkins hides the Player inside his own body, concealing them from the Prototype's sight. Once the danger has passed, the Player continues forward alongside Chum Chompkins, solving the obstacles that stand in their way.

(Boxy Boo Chase)

Upon reaching the Purification and Storage Facility, the Player crosses paths with the Prototype once again.

This time, the Prototype realizes that Chum Chompkins has betrayed him.

Without mercy, he kills Chum on the spot before throwing the Player into the facility's raging floodwaters.

Moments later, he releases Boxy Boo to finish the hunt.

A frantic chase begins as the Player races through the collapsing waterways, desperately avoiding Boxy Boo's relentless attacks.

In the final moments of the pursuit, the Player freezes Boxy Boo's limbs, leaving him unable to react as he plunges into a massive abyss below. The Player narrowly escapes. But victory is short-lived.Using a cache of mining explosives, the Prototype devastates the surrounding structure. The resulting explosion tears the facility apart, and the Player is swallowed by the collapsing void beneath them.

The Player awakens among mountains of scrap metal and the shattered remains of Boxy Boo.

The area appears to be an abandoned storage site, littered with the remains of failed experiments and countless barrels filled with Poppy Gel.

As the Player presses onward, a familiar ringing echoes through the silence.

It's Poppy's telephone.

The Player answers.

On the other end...

...is the Prototype.

Using a distorted imitation of Ollie's voice, the Prototype mocks the Player, revealing that he had manipulated them from the very beginning. He laughs, calling the Player both intelligent and unbelievably nave.

The Prototype then delivers an ultimatum.

If the Player truly wishes to save Poppy, they must come to A Better Place...Alone.

Otherwise, Poppy will be used to fulfill the Prototype's own ambitions. The call abruptly ends.

Escaping the scrapyard, the Player continues onward until finally arriving at A Better Place.

According to the Doctor, Elliot Ludwig originally envisioned this location as another sanctuary similar to Playcare.

After Elliot's death, however, Leith Pierre transformed it into something entirely different—a place where experiments could live as though they were human, where new experiments could be developed freely, and where fields of Poppy flowers were cultivated for their valuable essence.

While exploring A Better Place, the Player witnesses the Prototype speaking with The Sailoir.

From their conversation, they learn that a portion of the Negation Formula has been hidden somewhere within the facility.

The Sailoir (Experiment 1424)

The Sailoir, designated Experiment 1424, was once a failed experiment plagued by severe neurological disorders.

According to records first mentioned in Chapter 4, the experiment suffered from memory loss, catalepsy, and numerous cognitive abnormalities.

After being transferred to A Better Place, extensive research and repeated enhancements transformed him into the formidable creature he is today.

His appearance is based on a sailor mascot that was commercially popular during the late 1950s.

The Sailoir is fiercely loyal to the Prototype, following his commands without question.

Armed with a deadly harpoon launcher and an expert knowledge of maritime traps, he serves as one of the Prototype's most dangerous enforcers.

The Player eventually discovers a computer terminal capable of interfacing with Glowby, allowing the Doctor to temporarily transfer himself into the facility's network.

While searching the database, the Doctor attempts to recover information stored within A Better Place.

During this time, the Player reunites with Giblet.

Giblet reveals that Poppy is being held captive inside the facility's Main Building.

Even more alarming, the Prototype intends to exploit Poppy's immortality, using her power to resurrect every fallen experiment within the factory in order to create his own vision of "A Better Place."

Realizing how little time remains, the Player understands that they must act immediately.

Moments later, the Doctor uncovers two critical discoveries hidden within the system:

the location of a body perfectly suited for his consciousness,

and the storage site of the remaining Negation Formula.

Now, only one obstacle stands between the Player and the Prototype...

After transferring the Doctor back into Glowby, the group continues through A Better Place, carefully avoiding the Sailoir's deadly traps

(First Sailoir Chase & The Underground Laboratories)

As the Player cautiously makes their way through the endless Poppy Fields, they remain hidden from the Sailoir's watchful eyes.

However, disaster strikes when the Player accidentally triggers one of the Sailoir's traps.

The loud noise immediately alerts him.

Separated from Giblet once again, the Player is forced into another desperate chase.

During the escape, one section of the Poppy Fields suddenly collapses beneath their feet.

The Player plunges into the abandoned Underground Laboratories.

Although the fall successfully throws the Sailoir off their trail, an even greater nightmare awaits below.

Every corridor bears unmistakable signs of the Prototype's presence.

The remains of horrifying experiments lie scattered throughout the cold, abandoned halls, silent evidence of countless grotesque creations carried out beneath the factory.

(Second Sailoir Chase)

Deep within the Underground Laboratories, the Player and the Doctor continue searching for the final components needed to complete the Negation Formula, all while avoiding the Prototype's presence.

At last, the formula is complete.

Everything is finally in place to challenge the Prototype.

Just then, Giblet manages to contact the Player by sending a signal through Glowby.

Before they can reunite, however...The Sailoir appears.

A second chase erupts as the Sailoir relentlessly pursues the Player through the abandoned laboratory complex. The chase eventually leads into an enormous experimental chamber. There, the Sailoir finally catches the Player, violently throwing them into the center of the arena.Escape is no longer possible. The confrontation becomes a fight to the death.

To defeat the Sailoir, the Player must use the scattered remains of failed experiments throughout the arena.

Using the Compound Hand, the Player transfers concentrated Poppy Gel into the device before repeatedly injecting it directly into the Sailoir's heart.

After delivering the final injection, the Player keeps the Sailoir distracted while the Doctor remotely activates the facility's massive industrial cutting machines.Carefully luring the Sailoir toward the machinery, the Player creates an opening.

At the perfect moment, the Doctor brings the machines crashing into the Sailoir, dealing catastrophic damage.

Seizing the opportunity, the Player freezes the exposed Poppy Gel pouring from the Sailoir's open wound before detonating it.

The explosion tears through the experiment's body.

The Sailoir collapses...and dies.Immediately after the battle, the facility's communication system suddenly activates.

The Prototype speaks directly to the Player.

He calmly admits that he is not surprised the Player survived everything they have endured.

According to him, the Player survived not because of strength...

...but because of luck.

The Prototype reveals that he could have killed the Player the very moment they first entered the factory.

Instead, he deliberately chose not to as he continued observing the Player's actions, he realized they were unknowingly helping advance his own plans.Because of that...he decided to let them live. The transmission ends.Soon afterward, the Player, the Doctor, and Giblet finally reunite.Only one objective remains. Before setting out, the Doctor discovers a body perfectly compatible with his consciousness and permanently transfers himself into it.The final confrontation with the Prototype is about to begin

(Prototype Boss Fight)

The Player, the Doctor, and Giblet make their way toward the Main Building. The time has finally come.

The moment they enter the building, loud bells begin ringing throughout the facility.

Standing before them is Poppy, restrained and completely helpless.

Scattered around her lie the lifeless bodies of countless fallen experiments (Huggy Wuggy. Mommy Long Legs. CatNap. Doey. The Smiling)Critters etc.).Suddenly...The Prototype emerges from the darkness behind Poppy. After a brief exchange, he launches himself toward the Player. The final battle begins atthe very start of the fight, the Prototype tears away the Player's Conductive Hand, leaving the GrabPack severely damaged.Seeing an opportunity, the Doctor and Giblet rush toward the Prototype.

Before either of them can reach him, enormous Poppy Gel tendrils erupt from the Prototype's back, slamming both of them against the walls and pinning them in place.Unable to move, they can only watch.

As the Player struggles back to their feet, they notice a massive unfinished statue towering above the chamber—a monument depicting Elliot Ludwig alongside Poppy.Using the GrabPack, the Player climbs the unfinished structure. The Prototype follows.High above the battlefield...

The fight continues atop the statue itself by channeling Poppy's energy, the Prototype has awakened every experiment whose remains were fused into his body. His new form is stronger than anything the Player has ever faced.

Construction equipment and debris prove almost useless against him.Every attack barely slows him down.Without warning, the Prototype extends one of Boxy Boo's mechanical arms, grabbing the Player and pulling them toward him.Just as he prepares to deliver the killing blow...Huggy Wuggy suddenly breaks free.

Remembering that the Prototype murdered Kissy Missy, Huggy attacks in a blind rage, repeatedly striking the Prototype and forcing him backward. The distraction allows Giblet and the Doctor to rejoin the battle.

The Doctor prepares to inject the Negation Formula. But before he can do so...The Prototype unleashes a devastating attack. The unfinished statue collapses.Everyone is thrown apart as the structure crashes to the ground.

From beneath the mountain of rubble...

The Prototype slowly rises.

Clutched in one hand...

...is Poppy's severed head.

At last, he has completely absorbed her power.

Cracks begin spreading across his mask.

Then...

It shatters.

Massive tendrils of living Poppy Gel burst from beneath the broken mask, wrapping around his body.

His flesh becomes almost entirely consumed by the unstable substance.

The Prototype has reached his ultimate form.

The Prototype seizes the Player and hurls them across the battlefield, sending them crashing into the endless Poppy Fields surrounding A Better Place.Although gravely wounded, the Player's body slowly regenerates thanks to the Poppy Gel flowing through their system.

Barely able to stand...The Player rises once more. The true final battle begins.

Our aim is to tip the tanker, filled with five massive Poppy Gels, onto the Prototype. The Prototype has become so powerful that tentacles have begun to emerge from the floor of Better Place. The Prototype, which has nearly brought the city to the brink of destruction, eventually demolishes the entire city. Amidst the city’s ruins, the Prototype has grown even more powerful; unless the vaccine is administered immediately, it will become too powerful to stop. When the player realises this, they sacrifice themselves to buy the Doctor time, and the vaccine is administered to the Prototype, neutralising all of its power causes him to lose.

The Prototype now reverts to its former form and is no longer as powerful as before. As the player, who is on the verge of death due to his injuries, uses the Pressure Hand to blow up what remains of the Prototype’s head,Player dies in the Doctor’s arms. It is all over now. Following these events, all the surviving test subjects blow up the part of the factory beyond Playcare and escape from the factory
